Pamela Train Leutz

Pamela Train Leutz began bookbinding in 1979 in a class with Helen DeGolyer at The Craft Guild of Dallas and continued studying with Hugo Peller, Jan and Jarmila Sobota, and Sally Key. She has taught bookbinding for 17 years, and has many clients for whom she does custom work.

Book bound in two-three board binding structure, developed by Jan Sobota with purple French chagrin leather over raised design with attached objects, tooled top edge, sewn silk headbands, doublure and  flysheet are copies of Barry Moser's illustrations.

Design Description: 
Using flax cords, the binding will be re-sewn in existing holes. The cords will be used to "lash" the raft onto the front and back cover boards. Dark navy goatskin leather with silver onlay leather. Raft of brown goatskin leather covered boards with blind tooled appearance of wood, lashed by sewing cords and knotted with a figure-eight which is secured to the cover board close to the fore-edge. Edges decorated with graphite with blind-tooled lines reminiscent of waves, headbands of fine flax cord. Doublure and endsheet of brown wood veneer paper. Title of brown onlay leather cut to resemble sticks.
