Forrest Jackson

Forrest Jackson began binding books at the Craft Guild in 1997 and since then has pursued fine binding, conservation, and restoration. He resides in University Park, Texas.

Hollow-back binding sewn on three frayed linen cords, quarter leather bound in the skin of a copperhead snake shot and tanned by the binder in August 2007. Top edge gilt, leather headbands, and Lokta Momi paper covered boards and endsheets.

Design Description: 
Quarter leather bound in the skin of a western diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) to be caught, killed, and tanned by the binder in Jack County, not far from the banks of the Brazos River. Textblock sewn on five frayed linen cords, painted pastepapers reminiscent of an autumnal sky and landscape will cover the boards, author and title stamped in gold, top edge gilt, goatskin leather headbands, and camel Hahnemühle Ingres paper endsheets.
