Bibliophile and Presbyterian pastor Decherd Henry Turner (1922–2002) was founding director of Bridwell Library. From 1950 through 1980 Mr. Turner built one of the nation’s significant theological libraries and among its finest Special Collections, which ranges from incunabula to modern fine press and artists books.
