Letter from Francis Asbury to Mary Bright, May 1, 1771.

Francis Asbury’s first five years of ministerial experience came in England. In this letter, written a few months before his journey to the New World, Rev. Asbury counseled Mary Bright to apply for the position of school mistress at Abraham Andrews’s private school for boys and girls in Hertford. This communique evidences Asbury’s concern about the economic well-being of those under his pastoral care.
