Dedicated to Louis, le grand Dauphin, 20th Dauphin of France (1661–1711), this catechism in verse retains the popular question and answer format of the genre with the answers composed in rhyme. The engraved vignette on the titlepage (on display) includes the etched royal arms of the eight-year old Dauphin flanked by putti.
