The earliest Methodist book signed by an American owner in Bridwell Library’s collections, this New York edition of the Methodist Form of Discipline was boldly inscribed “Rhoda Applegate’s Book 1793.” This owner is plausibly identified as Rhoda Applegate (1769–1853), a member of a prominent family in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey.
