Early Eighteenth-Century German Devotional Book by Kaukol

This German-language devotional book was dedicated to Clemens August of Bavaria, Archbishop-Elector of Cologne (1700–1761). Prepared by his cabinet secretary, Kaukol collected the prayers used at the court of the elector, engraved the text in calligraphic script within double line borders, and decorated the text with initial letters, ornaments, flourishes, and title pages for individual sections within the work.
