(BRB0210)

This sacro-historical poem in four cantos concerns the apparition of Our Lady of Pueblito, one of numerous manifestations of the Virgin Mary found in colonial Mexico. Veneration for this figure arose in the early seventeenth-century after Franciscan missionaries set a carved image of the Virgin inside a temple used by the Indians of  Querétaro.  Over time, the image inspired numerous conversions and the sanctuary became a popular pilgrimage site. The engraved illustration includes a small  image of the Christ Child and a larger kneeling figure of St. Francis supporting the Virgin upon three globes symbolizing the three Franciscan Orders.
