Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) created twelve heliogravures for this issue of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, one illustration for each chapter. An editor at Random House commissioned Dalí to create the illustrations for a small, exclusive edition of their book-of-the-month series.

In addition, Dalí created a four-color etching as the frontispiece with the title page signed in every copy from the edition. This is no. 2488 of 2500 portfolios.
