Dr. Heitzenrater’s two-volume biography of John Wesley was published by Abingdon Press in 1984. In this work he offered new insights based on the decoding of the Wesley diaries and the study of previously unpublished materials. Rather than viewing The Elusive Mr. Wesley as a definitive biography, Dr. Heitzenrater used the book to lay the groundwork for future scholars to produce one.
