[Advertisement for Boniface VIII, Liber sextus Decretalium] Broadside.
[Venice: Thomas de Blavis, 1489]. (06724)

Formerly bound inside Bridwell Library’s copy of the Liber sextus Decretalium printed by Thomas de Blavis in 1489, this single leaf of text served as the printer’s advertisement for that edition. The small broadside encouraged students of canon law to consider the benefits of buying this portable edition printed in small but legible type. This is the only recorded specimen of this unusual document of the early book trade.
