Fifteenth-Century Book of Hours, Comprising Different Fragments
[Book of Hours. Use of Troyes].
[France, ca. 1400, with later additions].
Illuminated manuscript (text fragments) on vellum. (BRMS 18)
Previously referred to as a “liber precum piae” (prayer book), this incomplete Book of Hours consists of at least three different manuscripts fragments. The preserved sections of the oldest manuscript consist of portions, bound out of order, of the Penitential Psalms, the Office of the Dead, the Gospel readings, the Hours of the Virgin, and the Hours of the Cross. Preliminary investigations suggest that these portions comprise a fragment from a Book of Hours for Troyes Use.
