Following the introduction of the printing press in Europe in the mid-fifteenth century, both text and illustrated manuscripts continued to be produced for religious instruction and study. A selection of such works here on display include two fifteenth-century manuscripts for Bible study, two eighteenth-century uniquely illustrated instructional manuals from the Low Countries, and an eighteenth-century commonplace book documenting a French nun’s reading and learning.
