Letter from Lois Perkins, 1968

Letter from Lois (Mrs. J. J.) Perkins to Albert Outler, April 3, 1968

Perkins School of Theology is named in honor of philanthropists and influential Methodist laypersons Joe J. Perkins (1874–1960), and his wife, Lois Craddock Perkins (1887–1983). In 1968 Lois Perkins wrote to Albert Outler expressing her deep appreciation for his service to First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls, Texas, in presenting the 1968 Perkins Lectures. Mrs. Perkins concludes her letter with these sentences conveying her highest esteem: “We need you. The church needs you. Perkins needs you and the world needs you.”
