Fine Press Edition with Engravings

The Holy Bible Reprinted According to the Authorized Version, 1611.
London: Nonesuch Press; New York: Dial Press, 1924–1927. (Prothro B-67)

Founded in 1922, the Nonesuch Press was a private press that specialized in famous texts that were not available in current editions. Whereas the King James Bible had been revised and reissued many times over the centuries, this edition is an exact reprint of the unaltered text of 1611. Although the style of Stephen Gooden’s illustrations is quite modern, his use of engraved plates returns to seventeenth-century methods.
