Aquinas 1471

THOMAS AQUINAS, Saint (1226-1274).
Summa theologica, pars secunda, primus liber.
Mainz: Peter Schoeffer, 8 Nov. 1471. (06669)

Although parts of the Summa theologica of Thomas Aquinas had been printed as early as 1463, Schoeffer was the first to print the the first section of the secunda Pars in 1471. In Bridwell Library's copy, the rectos of the first leaf and leaf 90 each bear contemporary ink ownership inscriptions recording that the book was given to the Dominican Convent at Vienna by Leonhardt Malner de Novo Foro (Neumarkt), Regent of the Ducal College. Malner was probably the early owner who added the many marginal notes in ink.
