Dr. Sellers had a deep and lasting love for the writings of Mark Twain. He owned eight of the earliest editions of various works, including The Innocents Abroad, A Double Barrelled Detective Story, and The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg, as well as the three classics on display in this exhibition. His copy of Tom Sawyer is from the first edition, second printing, issue “A,” which preserves its original gilt blue cloth binding.
