Report of the Educational Commission
January 18–19, 1911
The five Annual Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South in Texas created a joint Educational Commission in the fall of 1910 to assess the church’s educational needs and resources. In January of 1911, the commission voted to establish a new university: Southern Methodist University.
