Woodcuts by Joyce Alexander – Calligraphy by Dorsey Alexander

Psalm 24 is one of three books of individual Psalms produced by Joyce and Dorsey Alexander at Turtle’s Quill Scriptorium. Woodcut illustrations adorn paper sheets of different colors, trimmed to varying widths and arranged to display an array of color along the diminutive book’s fore-edge. The colophon identifies the text as “a written version of Alexander Earthquake Black.” The copy on display is number 250 of an edition of five hundred, produced as gifts for friends on Christmas Eve, 1970.
