Title

Subject

Catholic Church - Missal

Description

The missal is a Christian service book that provides the texts necessary for the celebration of the Mass by a priest. It includes chants, prayers, scriptural readings, and directions (rubrics) written in red. The presence of location specific saints localize this manuscript to Bohemia, maybe Prague. Included are red and blue decorated initials with ornate pen work extensions in purple or mauve filling the margins. Various prefaces set to plainchant are provided with musical notation in three-line staves.
