[Bamberg: Georg Erlinger, 1523]. (BRA0373)

One of the few laypersons to publish polemical works during the early years of the Protestant Reformation, Argula von Grumbach went on to publish eight pamphlets, including this letter in which she admonished all believers to fulfill their duty as good Christians by living faithfully by the word of God alone. The woodcut on the title page shows the followers of the Whore of Babylon (Revelation 17) failing in this duty.
