Eighteenth-Century Stations of The Cross
Dévotes affections, pour servir aux stations du Chemin de la Croix.
Augsburg: Joseph Sebastian and Johann Baptist Klauber, 1774.
(BRE0025)
This relatively inexpensive but well-illustrated book of meditations on the Stations of the Cross includes fourteen engravings, chapter headings in decorative typographic borders, and accompanying prayers addressed to Jesus Christ in French. Printed by the prolific Klauber publishing firm based in Germany, the book demonstrates the expansion of the Klauber’s devotional publication program into the French market.
