This pocket edition of the Book of Common Prayer was designed to provide both intimacy of use and portability. The owner paid extra to have special features added: the gilt and red-dyed goatskin binding with enclosing flap; the fore-edge painting depicting an unidentified English church; and the personalized gilt inscription “J. Pool.”
