Man of Sorrows

Albrecht Dürer.
Passio domini nostri Jesu, ex Hieronymo Paduano, Dominico Mancino, Sedulio, et Baptista Mantuano, per fratrem Chelidonium collecta, cum figuris Alberti Dureri Norici Pictoris.
Nuremberg: Albrecht Dürer, 1511. (11011)

In The Man of Sorrows, which served as the title page for the Large Passion, Dürer depicted a timeless image of Christ's suffering. Already crucified and sitting upon his tomb, he endures eternal mockery by an earthly tormentor.
