Veronica's Veil

Albrecht Dürer.
Passio Christi ab Alberto Durer Nurenbergensi effigiata cum varii generis carminibus Fratris Benedicti Chelidonii Musophili.

Nuremberg: Albrecht Dürer, 1511. (11012)

Veronica’s Veil stands outside the Passion narrative. This veil, said to have been imprinted with Christ’s own image, is not mentioned in the Gospels. However, the cloth is venerated as the “vera icon” (true icon) in this print, which also includes St. Peter and St. Paul.
