The Fall of Man
Albrecht Dürer.
Passio Christi ab Alberto Durer Nurenbergensi effigiata cum varii generis carminibus Fratris Benedicti Chelidonii Musophili.
Nuremberg: Albrecht Dürer, 1511. (11012)
The first four woodcuts in the series form a pair of prologues: two scenes depict the Fall of Man (shown here) and the Expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, while the Annunciation and the Nativity depict the advent of the Savior, through whose Passion sinful humankind is promised redemption.
