Geneva Bible of 1569–70

[English Bible]. The Bible and Holy Scriptures Conteyned in the Olde and Newe Testament, Translated According to the Ebrue and Greke.
Geneva: John Crispin, 1569–1570. (Prothro B-148)

The woodcuts in this printing of the Geneva Bible, hand-colored in this copy, were derived from the traditional illustrations for Nicholas de Lyra’s Postilla on the Bible, although his commentary is not present in this edition. Accompanied by legends keyed to various letters, the woodcuts illustrate the Ark of the Covenant with its cover bearing two golden cherubim, the tables for the showbreads of the tabernacle, and the candelabrum.
