Owned by a Minister's Wife

[Mrs. Lefevre].
An Extract of Letters by Mrs. L***. Edited by John Wesley.
London: George Paramore, 1792. (BRA1906)

Frances Mortimer Pawson (1736–1809), whose second husband was the longtime English Methodist leader John Pawson (1737–1806), was an influential force in the early Methodist movement. Regarded as a model minister’s wife, she was the subject of biographical memoirs after her death. In 1797 she signed and dated her copy of these excerpts from pious letters written to John Wesley by “Mrs. Lefevre.” Facing the title page is a stipple-engraved portrait cut out of the September 1798 issue of The Methodist Magazine, which was bound with this book several years later.
