A Curse Against Book Stealers
For him that stealeth a Book
from this Library, let it
change into a serpent in his hand
and rend him. Let him be struck
with Palsy & all his Members
blasted. Let him languish in Pain
crying aloud for Mercy, & let
there be no surcease to his Agony
till he sink to Dissolution. Let
Bookworms gnaw his Entrails in
token of the Worm which dieth not,
& when he goeth to his Punishment
let the flames of Hell consume
him for Ever & ever.

Frank J. Anderson, librarian at Wofford College from 1966 until his retirement in 1984, operated the Kitemaug Press, a small private press in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The Kitemaug Press was known for fine letterpress printing and its production of miniature books.
