A Dozen Moral Works, Published as a Set and Issued in a Box

This set of a dozen miniature books, all emphasizing Christian virtues, was published by the Sunday-School Union of the Methodist Episcopal Church and issued in a printed paper-covered box. The individual titles include Bob, the Cabin-Boy; The Broken Back; The Hank of Twine; Hans and May; How to Make Peace; Kate and Her Friend; Lina and Her Nurse; The Little Brother; The Little Waif in the Light-House; Mind Your Mother, an Old Man’s Story; The New-Year’s Gift; and The Red Apple. Each book has twenty-four pages and includes a wood engraving opposite the beginning of the text. Bridwell Library’s set is housed in its original box with a label reading “My Box of Jewels,” but is lacking one title, The Little Brother.
