This illustrated retelling of the parable of the Prodigal Son features the prodigal as a young boy of the Regency Era in the United Kingdom in the 1810s; the original parable from the Gospel of Luke (Luke 15:11-32) is included in the introduction. Complementing the text, the sixteen engraved plates depict characters in elegant clothing of the period. This second edition, previously unrecorded, was preceded by the first edition of 1814.
