Illustrated cards could be utilized for engaging students and teaching a variety of religious topics. Sabbath School Cards, or Scripture Maps &c., issued as a set of twelve cards, has individual cards for the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, the genealogy of Christ’s descent from Adam, and emblems designed to help students memorize specific biblical passages. Eight cards are devoted to scriptural geography including maps showing the settlements of the descendants of Noah; Mesopotamia; Judea or Palestine (“illustrating the history of the New Testament and exhibiting the travels of the Lord Jesus Christ”); the city of Jerusalem; and specific sites from the accounts of Jesus and his disciples.
