The Early Death of a Pious Young Boy, the British Edition

The Flower Gathered; or, the History of Henry Packman Smith.
London: The Religious Tract Society, [ca. 1838–1839]. (BRB0582)

A moral tale of a pious young boy who before his death at the age of seven enthusiastically accepts Jesus as his Savior, this unabridged London edition is uncommon. The story is more often found as a shortened version in a later collection published by the American Tract Society. This volume is bound in contemporary polished blue calf decorated in gilt with the name “C. Anderson” stamped on the upper board. In addition to the custom binding, this copy has a well-executed silhouette of a boy wearing a cap opposite the table of contents, attached to the verso of the title page.
